craft training
recently matsya partnered with utthan for a craft training for their women at rajula in gujarat India. The main focus & objective of the training was towards basic design, drawing,& use their own skills to create products .
our subject was “rajula” their own town, villages ,things that one see around.
we started with basic sketches on paper, then on fabric, and then filling up the fabric with their own imagination of colours, embroidery and patch work.
they were amazed to see themselves draw & see their own skills transform into great simple designs we brainstormed on ideas such as the rajula tower, the darga a mosque, manju ma a senior women sketched the sparrow which was high in creativity &design, the chakda a local transporter like a rickshaw were all transformed on paper & then on fabrics .
we also ended up making some products out of waste fabrics at the work shop !
the ten day programme witnessed lot of potential within the women which gave them a new dimension of their own skills ,confidence,to view & think different & yetcreative ,fun, & meet a new friend “matsya”
i enjoyed & learnt new perspectives to design at the training .My sincere thanks to utthan for giving matsya a wonderful opportunity.
